Valentin Stefanoff. At the beginning of his professional career at the end of
the 80's he concentrated on addressing the problems of recognizable visual signs
and their interaction with meanings and codes. Later on, his interest for spatial
visual constructions was reinforced and he dedicated himself mainly to installations,
operating with a language close to minimalism, involving the visual mediation
of video, camera obscura, mirror reflections and spatial lighting effects. The
artist usually drives his spectators to recognize almost physically alienation
and loneliness, pressing them to ask basic questions about existence in the contemporary
world.
